Posted on July 27, 2010 By akemp (Edit) Leave a Comment

Hey Legacy Farm! When was the last time that you had a five course meal at  a restaurant for a reasonable price? Or at all? I know that at my house, most meals are three course at best.  Many times, unless soup and salad is involved, I can't really eat more than three courses, if they are hearty sizes. Well, Wang's Mandarin House is giving you is giving you... [Read more...]

Okay Legacy Farm. I have one of the biggest sweet tooths of anybody that I know. So, since I have been around sweets for a long, long time, I know my way around sugar. :) I know when treats are delectable, and I know when they...well, when they aren't. But rest assured, Off the Square Catering over on S. Florence in Memphis, totally delectable. Their creativity... [Read more...]

Every Dog Has its Day

And Fido will have the day of his life this Saturday. Memphis will open it's first dog park at 11 am, at 2599 Avery, behind the Board of Education. Sure, Shelby Farms has a dog area, but it's not fenced in. The park will be on the site of the former children's theater destroyed by the 2003 windstorm. It will have a half-acre for dogs under 25 pounds... [Read more...]

The goal of the Collage Dance Collective is to train African-American students in ballet so that seeing a black ballerina or black male ballet... [Read more...]

Doesn't the prospect of a rooftop party just seem so cool? You get to view all of the skyscrapers around you, lit up like stars in the night sky, while you dance the night away. And if it's a clear night, you're literally dancing under the stars. Talk about fun! Well you get your chance every Thursday night until August 5th at the Peabody Hotel on... [Read more...]

Go Fly a Kite!

Literally. :) To commemorate Earth Week, Shelby Farms Park is hosting SkyFest 2010. If it resides in the air, then it’s good for SkyFest! One of the main functions is kite flying. You can bring your own, make one at the festival, or buy one. I suggest making your own, since it’s fun to see just how creative you can be. What would a festival... [Read more...]

Like Indian Cuisine?

I’ve had a few samples before. What I tasted was pretty good, if not very SPICY. Since I don’t really like spicy food all that much, I doubt I’ll try that particular dish (who’s name escapes me at the moment), but I’m up for trying something different. :) That’s one thing that I have on my life’s to do list: taste an authentic dish from... [Read more...]
