Hey Legacy Farm! Face it, we all live with daily stresses in our lives. This can come from any number of things including work, family life, anxiety or big decisions coming your way. The million dollar question is, how do you deal with all of these stresses and still keep your sanity? Massage therapy is an excellent solution to your problems and you won’t have to spend a million dollars to get your question answered. Body Mechanix in Memphis is a wonderful solution.

Body Mechanix (3486 Poplar Ave #101) is a locally owned massage parlor, operated by experienced massage therapists. They offer a wide range of massage options such as therapeutic, sports, and pregnancy, as well as a good variety of specials and packages all at reasonable prices. You can get a 5 minute back tune up for $10 or a Swedish massage starting at $35 for 30 minutes. That’s pretty good considering the prices of other spas out there.

Body Mechanix also has various specials throughout the year. For the summer months of June and July, they are offering a  Lush Hydrating Wrap with exfoliation to keep your skin hydrated and nourished under this summer sun. This is going for roughly $50 but it’s definitely worth it.

So if you want an escape from the stresses in your life, get a massage; you’ll be glad you did.

Instructors adjust postures at an Anahata Yoga...

Ah, yoga; the ultimate relaxation workout. Well, it’s relaxing once you get past the extremely intricate positions, but the breathing techniques and meditation practices are very useful. I’ve only taken a few yoga classes myself, and I know that if I had stuck with it, I would have thoroughly enjoyed it. I just didn’t have the patience for it. I guess sticking with the class would have helped me with that, right?

Well, hopefully you have the patience and the will to partake in the yoga classes being offered by the CrossRoads United Methodist Church, which is about 10 minutes away from Legacy Farm on Shelby Drive. Don’t you just love when activities like this and you don’t have to travel all the way to Memphis? ;)

Classes are only $5 and there is also the option of paying monthly in advance. Call (901) 737 – 3776 for more details.

Do you yoga?

Cutting 100 Calories Without Cutting Your Meals

Caesar salad at Nichols Restaurant in Marina d...

Okay, so I get the whole calorie counting concept: the less calories you intake, the more pounds you drop. But I don’t believe in starving myself to achieve these goals. I may be slim, but I love food, and cutting back truly hurts my feelings, lol. Besides, you’re more likely to binge eat at the end of a diet if you starve yourself.

Here are tips to help you cut calories without cutting taste:

  • In Caesar salads, drop the croutons, halve the Parmesan dressing, and say no to extra cheese.
  • Use mustard packets instead of mayo on your sandwiches. Mustard packets have almost no calories; just 3 in a packet!
  • Dunk your tortilla chips in salsa instead of guacamole. I would suggest organically made salsa; it tastes fresher. :)

Using this tips could ultimately lead to a happier, healthier you. Do you have any tips for cutting calories but keeping taste?
