Eat Green, Live Green
Earth Day has come and gone, but that doesn’t mean that your commitment to a healthy environment has to stop.
Here are a few simple ways that you can make your every day living more green.
Eat greener!
1.) Seek out local. Stocking up with fresh produce from local growers not only tastes better, it also involves minimal transportation, greenhouse gas emissions, preservatives and pesticides.
2.) Eat your veggies… and fruit. Embrace green eating. A diet heavy on fruits and veggies takes less energy to produce. Plus, it’s healthier for you.
3.) Cut out take-out. Cut down on fast food consumption for a thinner waist line and a healthier environment.
Where’s your favorite place to go for ‘green’ food?
Every Small Step Counts!
Hey Legacy Farm! Every little step counts, and since today is Earth Day, maybe you should consider taking small steps of your own.
Sun Chips is presenting a new, 100% completely biodegradable chip bag as their small step. What’s yours?
Going Green Tip
Want an easy way to go green without leaving your home? Here’s a tip: shut down your computer at night. I know that this seems like a simple action, and that it may not effect much, but it effects more than you think.
You’ll save an average of $90 on electricity a year!! Now, come on. Who doesn’t like to save money? The Department of Energy suggests shutting off your monitor if you’re not going to be using it for more than 20 minutes, and shutting your system down entirely if you’re not going to be using it for more than 2 hours.
A simple way for everyone to save the planet (and your wallets!)
Let’s go green!
Great American Cleanup 2010
The Great American Cleanup was a huge success last year with over 3 million volunteers and 64 million pounds of litter and debris removed from parks, trail ways, and waterways.
The Cleanup lasted three months and volunteers gave 5.2 million hours to the cause.
There is always this year to be a volunteer, but don’t wait until then to start cleaning up. When you go for a walk take a bag with you and pickup trash as you go. Organize a community clean up day. You like to come home to a clean community, right?
Can you start your community clean up today?
