Check out Memphis’ First Gastropub: South of Beale

As the first gastropub in Memphis, South of Beale is a fun place to go for a drink, a meal, or both. The eatery has set its sights on higher quality food than is usually served in pubs and bars, and it has hit the mark. It’s definitely worthy of a place on your list of restaurants near Collierville and our apartments.

South of Beale is located on the corner of Main and Talbot in the South Main Arts District. The menu features southern favorites with an updated twist, such as a patty melt made with duck and Gouda cheese or the Jack and Coke, which features Jack Daniels ice cream and Coca-Cola bread pudding.

The gastropub opens at 11 a.m. every day and closes around 10 p.m. on Sundays, midnight Mondays through Thursdays, and 3 a.m. Fridays and Saturdays. Lunch and dinner share the same menu, while a shorter version covers the late-night hours. The weekend brunch also gets its own menu, and all three feature a sizable portion of gluten-free choices.

You’ll probably be glad to know that South of Beale is also a Project Green Fork certified restaurant, joining other restaurants near Collierville in protecting the environment.
